Influencers have become essential on all social media platforms by combining fun, creativity, activism and inspiration. Looking up to someone and learning how to not only update your closet but also learn about what is changing in the world makes influencers stand out and emphasize their purpose. Here are five influencers we thought you could use to change your view on the world and self.
Hodan Yousuf, a Toronto-based influencer (who gained a vast following from TikTok at first), is an inspiration by incorporating her love for fashion and being able to still express her faith in her attire. Yousuf uses mostly thrifted outfits focusing on masculine attire, making many of her outfits reflect men’s fashion and street style while combining them with feminine items to create a silhouette she can enjoy sharing with the world. If you’re trying to upgrade your style and understand the concept of being able to balance faith and fashion, Yousuf is the influencer to look up to.
Miran Njoh is a West African influencer who immigrated from the United States to Toronto and is now focusing on story sharing, being creative and fashion. She has gone from managing schedules for hair and makeup artists to being a stylist for Rihanna to modelling for many known brands. Njoh is an influencer who works within multiple creative platforms that she uses to inspire and teach others through her posts and interactions. If you want to connect to someone who has gone through multiple creative fields and can share her intake on it, Njoh is your perfect influencer.
Being one of our recent cover stars, Nova is an inspiring individual who uses her platform to share her culture in terms of fashion, food, music and anything she can do to express herself. From sharing her culture on TikTok to now being a substantial influential representative for her community, Nova uses her platform uniquely to engage with her audience and educate them about the uniqueness and history of her Indigenous culture. If you’re looking for an influencer who isn’t afraid to share her culture Nova’s content is just for you.
Looking to gain information from a scholar? This influencer is working towards her Ph.D. in history and has a strong awareness of the fashion industry. Bauer focuses on finding and sharing clothes that are harm-reducing and values the environment and people. If you want some thrifting tips, ethical clothing options and love to talk about social and environmental impacts in fashion, look into what Kate is doing.
Jessica Prudencio is an influencer from Montreal who focuses on mental health, body positivity and expressing yourself in the best way possible. Prudencio’s content engages the audience to learn more about themselves and accept who they are. Get involved and inspired to be the real you by looking at Prudencio’s gorgeous nails, bright coloured outfits, Podcast and deliciously packed foods on her food blog.
